Faculty and Student Observation and Participation

Observers 

Children's Campus provides opportunities for SF State students and faculty to observe children ages 6 months through 5 years. Observers are placed in one of our 5 dedicated observation rooms and will have no direct contact with Children. Faculty intending to send their students to the Children's Campus must initially contact the Director, Anna Tobin-Wallis. Once registered in the system, faculty can register course/s and students each semester through the Observation System using their SF State ID and password. Students will not be allowed to sign-up for an observation until faculty has registered their course and students. Faculty and students are encouraged to read the guidlines for observation at the Children's Campus below.

​Participants (inside the classroom)

Children's Campus provides opportunities for SF State students and faculty to participate in the classroom with children ages 6 months through 5 years.  If direct participation in the classroom is required by their coursework, the student must comply with California Community Care Licensing (CCL) requirements for volunteers. Those requirements are detailed in the Guidlines for Participants below.  Faculty intending to send their students to the Children's Campus must initially contact the Director, Anna Tobin-Wallis. Once registered in the system, faculty can register course/s and students each semester through the Observation System using their SF State ID and password. Students will not be allowed to sign-up to participate until faculty has registered their course and students. Faculty and students are encouraged to read the guidelines for participation at the Children's Campus below. Students will not be allowed to participate in the classroom untill all requirements are met.

Volunteers

To qualify as a volunteer you must comply with California Community Care Licensing (CCL) requirements for volunteers. Students interested in volunteering should read the guidelines for volunteers below. If you are interested in volunteering at Children's Campus please email Children's Campus and tell us about yourself and why you are interested in volunterring at Children's Campus. Volunteers will be accepted at the disgresion of Children's Campus administration.

Student Internships

Internships that are SF State academic requirements are arranged directly with the Director, Anna Tobin-Wallis. Currently, students from the Child and Adolescent Development (CAD) and Consumer and Family Studies (CFS) Departments complete internships at the Children's Campus each semester.  In addition, students studying child development at City College San Francisco are able to complete internships at Children's Campus, space permitting.

Teaching Fellow

Teaching Fellows spend one year training at the Children's Campus under the direct supervision and mentorship of the Program Coordinator. Fellows work a full schedule and become integral members of our highly experienced teaching team. Applicants for the Fellowship must be enrolled in a graduate program focusing on Early Childhood, have relevant teaching experience and be interested in further developing their knowledge of early childhood and skills as early childhood educators. Student Employment
